The following FAQ features information specific to the LEAD Winter event on February 26–27, 2021.

🚨 Important Information for LEAD Winter 🚨

  • All registrations must be paid for with a credit card at the time of registration.
  • All registrants MUST REVIEW AND AGREE to the NASSP Online Code of Conduct.
  • Every attendee must use their own email address to register. The adviser email address may not be used for all attendees.
  • The LEAD Winter conference will take place on an event platform that is hosted on Amazon EC2, Amazon Web Services. Only the adviser networking session will be hosted on Zoom. The conference platform will NOT work on Internet Explorer. For best results, please download Chrome or Firefox.
  • We recommend using personal email addresses for registering students when possible, as many school filters are known to block students from receiving external emails on school accounts. Alternatively, advisers may want to whitelist the following email addresses with your IT department: [email protected] and [email protected].
  • The LEAD Winter program is intended for middle level and high school student leaders and their advisers.
  • Session recordings will be available on the event platform up to three months following the event. Go back and re-watch your favorite speaker or check out a breakout session you missed live!

SCHEDULE

What is the schedule for LEAD Winter?

LEAD Winter will take place on Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27. The live programming schedule is as follows. End times are approximate and the schedule is subject to change.

  • Friday, February 26, 7:00–9:30 p.m. (Eastern Time)
  • Saturday, February 27, 12:30–3:45 p.m. (Eastern Time)

REGISTRATION

Important Note: All registrations must be paid for with a credit card at the time of registration, and each attendee must register with their own unique email address.

Who can register for LEAD Winter?

Both members and nonmembers of NASSP’s Student Leadership programs (National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, and National Student Council) are welcome to register for LEAD Winter. For your convenience, there are three ways to register for the event:

  1. Advisers can register a group. Create your group by selecting “Group Registration” on the LEAD Winter registration website.
  2. Individuals can register themselves. Students and advisers can register themselves by selecting “Individual Registration” on the registration website.
  3. Parents can register their students. Any individual registrants under 13 require parental consent to attend LEAD Winter.

What is the registration cost for LEAD Winter?

The LEAD Winter event on February 26–27, 2021 will cost $35 per registration for both members and nonmembers.

Where can I find the NASSP W-9 form?

You can download it here.

Can I register on the day of the event?

No. All registration must be done online. Registration closes at 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Tuesday, February 23 or when we reach capacity, whichever comes first.

If you have any substitutions or changes for a group, select “Group Registration” on the registration website and log in under “Returning Group Login” to access your group record and make the changes prior to February 23. To make any changes to an individual registration, email [email protected] or call 800-253-7746, option 8, for assistance.

Is there a printable registration form?

No. Registration is only available online.

Are checks or purchase orders accepted as payment for conference registration?

No. For LEAD Winter, payment is accepted via credit card only.

When will I receive my registration materials?

A confirmation email will be sent immediately upon registration. For group registrations, the confirmation email will be sent to the adviser’s email address. You will also receive additional details via email prior to the conference with detailed instructions regarding the LEAD Winter online event platform.

If you do not receive a confirmation email, please reach out to Customer Care immediately at [email protected] or 800-253-7746, option 8. You must be able to receive communications from NASSP in order to access the LEAD Winter online event platform.

What is the cancellation policy?

There is no cancellation or refund for the LEAD Winter conference. If you are unable to attend live, note that the $35 registration fee provides access to the conference materials for three months after the conference.

One of my students can’t attend anymore. Can I substitute another student?

Prior to February 23, advisers can make substitutions for their group by selecting “Group Registration” on the registration website and logging in under “Returning Group Login” to access your group record and make any necessary changes. To make any changes to an individual registration, email [email protected] or call 800-253-7746, option 8, for assistance.

All substitutions must be completed by 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) on February 23, 2021.

How should students and advisers dress for the conference?

School-appropriate dress is required.

What forms are required?

Each participant in LEAD Winter will be required to adhere to the NASSP Online Code of Conduct. All registrants must agree to the Code of Conduct before registering for the event and advisers registering a group are strongly encouraged to collect written agreement to the policies outlined from each student leader.

Can I earn credits for attending LEAD Winter?

No, but you will obtain a professional contact hour certificate when your post-conference evaluation is completed and submitted.

How do I register a co-adviser?

First, you will need to add the co-adviser to your school record. Please email [email protected] with the name and email of the person you are wanting to add including their role/title. You can also call 1-800-253-7746, option 4 to have them added. Once they are added you can then register them for the conference. Questions? How do I get back to my registration if I don’t complete it in one user session?

Advisers can log back into a group registration by selecting “Group Registration” on the registration website and logging in under “Returning Group Login” to access your group record. Individual registrations must be completed in a single session.

Can a student register themselves?

Yes. Students can register themselves by selecting “Individual Registration” on the registration website. Note that any students under age 13 require parental consent to complete the registration process.

RATIO

What is the adviser-to-student ratio?

There is no adviser-to-student ratio.

Can a parent attend?

No, but they are welcome to view with their student.


WORKSHOPS

Who can present workshops?

Students, advisers, college students, professional speakers, and leadership consultants are all welcome to present LEAD Winter workshops.

What do I need to do to present a workshop?

You must apply to present a workshop at LEAD Winter. Opportunities are available for both 30-minute workshops and 20-minute “Meet the Pros” sessions. Additional details and information on how to apply can be found on the Present a Workshop page.

Can I speak at a future LEAD Conference?

If you are interested in presenting as a Keynote Speaker at a future LEAD Conference, please fill out the NASSP Student Conferences Speaker Interest Form. This form is a means of introducing yourself to us and providing us with your contact information, speaking references, and an overview of your presentation.
