LEAD Conferences FAQ

The following FAQ features information specific to the LEAD Spark event on November 20–21, 2020. Information on other 2021 events will available soon.

LEAD Spark is only available to those affiliated with an active National Honor Society (NHS) chapter, National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) chapter, or National Student Council (NatStuCo) member council.

The LEAD Spark conference will be hosted on a public facing website created specifically for NASSP’s Student Leadership programs (NHS, NJHS, and NatStuCo).  The conference microsite is hosted on Amazon EC2, Amazon Web Services.  Only the adviser session will be hosted on Zoom. The conference platform will NOT work on Internet Explorer. For best results, please download Chrome or Firefox.


What is the schedule for LEAD Spark?

LEAD Spark will take place on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21. The live programming schedule is as follows. End times are approximate.

  • Friday, November 20, 7:00–9:15 p.m. (ET)
  • Saturday, November 21, 12:30–3:30 p.m. (ET)

Important Note: The chapter or council adviser is responsible for the registration for the LEAD Spark Conference. Every attendee must have their own email address to register.  The adviser email address may not be used for all attendees.

What are the costs for LEAD Spark?

The LEAD Spark event on November 20–21, 2020 will be FREE and only available to active NHS, NJHS, and NatStuCo members.

Can I register on the day of the event?

No. All registration must be done online prior to the show. Registration closes at 4:00 p.m. (ET) on November 13 or when we reach capacity, whichever comes first. If you have any cancellation or changes, the adviser can access the group record online and make the changes prior to that date and time.

Is there a printable registration form?

No. Registration is only available online.

When will I receive my registration materials?

A confirmation email will be sent to the adviser’s email address immediately upon registration. You will also receive additional details via email prior to the conference with detailed instructions regarding the LEAD Spark online event platform.

If you do not receive a confirmation email, please reach out to Customer Care immediately at lead@nassp.org or 800-253-7746, option 8. You must be able to receive communications from NASSP in order to access the LEAD Spark online event platform.

Do you have to be a member to attend?

Yes, LEAD Spark is only available to those affiliated with an active National Honor Society (NHS) chapter, National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) chapter, or National Student Council (NatStuCo) member council. What is the cancellation policy?

If you or one of your students can no longer attend LEAD Spark, please let us know by removing them from your delegation within the LEAD registration platform by 4:00 p.m. (ET) on November 13 or by contacting Customer Care at lead@nassp.org or 800-253-7746, option 8.

One of my students can’t attend anymore. Can I substitute another student?

Should you need to transfer LEAD Spark registration to another student after November 13, please send an email to lead@nassp.org with the subject line, “SUBSTITUTION LEAD Spark”. Provide the following information: Your school name and the name of the person who was previously registered to attend, the name of the student to be substituted, and their email address. All substitutions must be completed by 3:00 p.m. (ET) on November 18, 2020.

How should students and advisers dress for the conference?

School-appropriate dress is required.

What forms are required?

No forms are required for LEAD Spark, although each participant in LEAD Spark will be required to adhere to the NASSP Online Code of Conduct.

Can I earn credits for attending LEAD Spark?

No, but you will obtain a professional contact hour certificate when your post-conference evaluation is completed and submitted.

How do I register a co-adviser?

First, you will need to add the co-adviser to your school record. Please email membership@nassp.org with the name and email of the person you are wanting to add including their role/title. You can also call 1-800-253-7746, option 4 to have them added. Once they are added you can then register them for the conference. Questions? Contact us at lead@nassp.org or 800-253-7746, option 8.

How do I get back to my registration if I don’t complete it in one user session?

You can log back into your registration and choose “Returning Group Login” or “Returning Adviser Login” to continue your session.

How does a student register themselves?

Students cannot register themselves for LEAD Spark. All registrations must be coordinated through the chapter or council’s adviser.

Who do I contact if I have difficulty registering or if I forgot my registration login information?

What is the adviser-to-student ratio?

There is no adviser-to-student ratio.

Can a parent attend?

No, but they are welcome to view with their student.


Who can present workshops?

LEAD Spark will not feature student or adviser presenters. Click here for information about the LEAD Spark speakers.  There will be an opportunity to present workshops at future LEAD conferences

Can I speak at a future LEAD Conference?

If you are interested in presenting as a Keynote Speaker at a future LEAD Conference, please fill out the NASSP Student Conferences Speaker Interest Form. This form is a means of introducing yourself to us and providing us with your contact information, speaking references, and an overview of your presentation.
